Awesome stay at Dorsett
We spent 4 days and 3 nights at Dorsett Mongkok after arriving from Macau via Turbo Jet.
We requested for a late check in since we’re coming from Macau. Booked via Agoda.
Checking in was really fast, they just asked me to deposit 500 HKD which is refundable once we checked out.
Receptionist is friendly, accommodating and warm.
We stayed at room 1017 with the view of the city.
Lobby is nice and smells good.
They have a resto but we didn’t try it during our stay.
Across the hotel are 24/7 McDonalds, and a park and market on the other side.
There’s 7/11 and other restaurants so you won’t be hungry at all even at midnight or wee hours of the morning.
Room is small which is typical of majority of HK hotels but sufficient.
They really used the space efficiently, no space is ever wasted inside the room.
They have a really cute bathroom and toiletries are provided.
Cleaning is very efficient. I asked them to change the linen on the first day and they did.
No pool I think but they have a small gym that my husband found sufficient.
Staff and concierge are nice and helpful and accommodating.
They have shuttle bus to Langham Place (Mongkok MTR), Temple Street, China HK City Mall/Canton Road/Star Ferry
And most especially the Kowloon Station where you can ride the Airport Express Train =)
If you want to walk to the nearest MTR, the nearest is the Olympic Station MTR, around 20-30-minute walk from the hotel.
They provided mobile phone that you can use for free calls and can also serve as wifi hotspot.
Checking out is also easy.
We had an awesome time here and we’ll definitely come back =)

Macau: Rio Hotel and Casino Macau
Great time at Rio
Spent an overnight stay last Dec 2-3 at Rio Hotel and Casino Macau and we had a great time!
Booked via Agoda so I just printed the voucher and presented it to the hotel.
It was prepaid already so there’s no need to pay the hotel.
Checking in was easy peasy, they just asked me for a 500 HKD deposit which is refundable once we checked out.
Receptionist is warm, friendly and accommodating. I think his name is Uncle Michael.
We stayed at room 1516. Although the view is just a building under construction, it’s ok since we were almost always outside.
We arrived from the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal from HKIA Skypier, across that is their shuttle bus.
You can lineup and wait for their shuttle bus. It’s about 5-10 minutes from the Ferry Terminal.
The room is big and the bed and pillow ‘fluffy’ according to my son. Nice lobby and it smells good, too.
Casino is just to your left once you enter the lobby. Staff and concierge are all nice and friendly and warm.
There are numerous restaurants in front and near the hotel, park is just across the hotel.
Toiletries are provided as well as basic amenities.
We checked out the pool which is nice but we didn’t swim because it was too cold.
Maybe they can make it heated in the future.
They a small gym which my husband enjoyed using. Not much equipment but it is sufficient and relatively new.
They have mobile phone that you can use and bring with you during your stay.
Aside from making calls for free, you can also use it as a wifi hotspot so you’ll always have wifi wherever you go.
Senado Square (Ruins of St. Paul), Grand Prix Museum etc are near but we took a taxi since we’re too lazy to walk=)
Checking out is also a breeze.
They also offer shuttle bus back to the Ferry Terminal so one less hassle to think while on vacation.
All in all, we really had a great time and we’ll definitely be back.

Baguio: Le Monet Hotel
Relaxing stay in Le Monet Hotel
For our anniversary, we chose Baguio City. Because of the newly opened Binalonan Exit after TPLEX, we were able to get to Baguio in just 3.5 hrs using this route NLEX-SCTEX-TPLEX via Binalonan Exit then Kennon Road. It was raining hard at that time (August 12, 2016) but we were able to arrive safely in Baguio.
We checked in at the Le Monet Hotel in Camp John Hay, very close to Ayala Technohub. Checking in/out was ok. We availed of the voucher online and made reservation so our room are already ready by the time we arrived at 12nn. The receptionists were really nice and the staff and concierge were friendly and accommodating. They didn't ask me for a deposit though which is ok.
We had the Deluxe room with 2 Queen-sized beds, soft linen and many pillows (we love pillows!). CR is really nice, room quite big but no aircon though. I think they have rooms with aircon but with extra fees and you just need to inform them. I love the room with a balcony and because it's Baguio in August, expect really cold and rainy weather so we didn't mind not having aircon at all because it was already cold as it is. All the good amenities that come with a nice hotel are there.
Internet is slow and you always need to input your password every a couple of minutes which is kinda tiring. So I hope they improve on this. TV is available both in the room and in the CR. Parking is ample though we parked near the restaurants beside the hotel.
They have a restaurant and there are a lot of restaurants near the hotel so you won't have any problem with food.
They have heated indoor pool but it was under maintenance when we went there. They have a small kiddie corner infront of the lobby.
The lobby is really nice with a huge cascading chandelier. It was also where the dining area is located.
Breakfast buffet is a feast. They have unlimited bacon so that makes is extra special. Dining staff are attentive. All in all, we had a great time.
We will definitely come back.

Baguio: The Manor Hotel
Happy stay at The Manor
We stayed last August 13-14 at The Manor to celebrate our anniversary. It was a rainy overnight stay there. We weren't able to go around the place because it was raining hard. Good thing the room itself and the indoor facilities are sufficient enough to enjoy our stay.
Checking in/out is fast and easy. Receptionists were nice and charming. You need to deposit 1k for incidentals, though this is refundable. The place has an old world charm. Very lovely lobby. There's a candy corner where kids and kids at heart are given free candies. We were given a room in the ground floor with a balcony. Don't expect aircon because all rooms I think do not have aircons. But since it's Baguio and it's August and it's rainy, it was really cold. There is a ceiling fan though.
Our room is huge with 2 Queen-sized beds, soft linen and pillows. Complete amenities though old fashioned CR.
Breakfast is a spread. We love it! Food is great. Fresh fruits are available and they have unlimited bacon. Yey! Although the breakfast buffet is not part of our room package, we had to pay it separately.
They have a nice dining area overlooking the garden. They also have a kiddie room where kids can play. My son enjoyed it.
Since it's raining, we weren't able to check the garden or the surrounding area of the Manor. Wifi is quite strong.
We will definitely come back.

Quezon City: Microtel by Wyndham UP Technohub
Microtel by Wyndham UP Technohub: Chill out hotel, nice rooftop pool
We stayed here last June 4-6, 2016 to celebrate my son's birthday. The place is new, the staff, receptionists, crew and guards are very attentive from parking to checking in/out, dining and even when asking information.
Breakfast buffet is available from 6-10am. Food is varied and substantial during our stay, not a feast but it will do. Kids 4 yrs old not free but discounted at 50%. They have a nice pool at the rooftop. It's just 4 feet and cozy and the lighting at night makes it nicer.
Room is big, clean and new. Bathroom is clean and new. Aircon is just right. Beds and pillows are just right for our taste. They provide 3 pillows per bed which is just right. We had room service and we liked the food (Seafood Marinara and Tuna Sandwich) but the serving was too small for the price we paid. We had Yellow Cab delivered to us instead.
The hotel is near UP Ayala Technohub so you can just order from there or you can have it delivered. Water dispenser is located every floor and ice dispenser located at the 6th floor.
Parking is sufficient and safe. People are friendly and accommodating. Ref is not available so you need to request one from the receptionist when you check in. I think they said it's limited (first come, first served basis) so you just have to hope that there's one available when you check in. We had one during our stay.
There's free wifi!
We had fun bonding there and given the chance, we will definitely come back.
PS. Choose the room away (as in far away) from the door entrance per floor to save you from hearing the banging of the door when someone enters/exits. Please don't tell me I didn't warn you =)

La Union: Awesome Hotel
Awesome Hotel: Awesome and peaceful vacation
We stayed here last May 13-14-15 2016 with my husband and kid. We were supposed to have a team-building here with my officemates but due to some unforeseen events, it didn't push through. But since we were already booked --- first day thru AsiaTravel which I had a bad experience. It's not true that they have the lowest rate despite having a price guarantee on their site. I booked our second day thru the Awesome website and they have the lowest rate! I highly recommend that you book with them directly. Aside from the lowest rate, they also have free breakfast. AsiaTravel doesn't include free breakfast.
Anyway, we had a great time at Awesome Hotel. It's a bit far from Manila. We went there on a Friday Payday so we already expected the heavy traffic. Plus there had been various constructions along the way so it took us about 6-7 hrs to get there via NLEX-SCTEX-TPLEX. But without traffic, I think you can get there in 3-4 hrs from Manila. The place was kinda private. You only have two resorts there so the beach is not crowded. Awesome hotel is a beachfront property. Both the beach and the hotel are clean.
Checking in/out is a breeze. Fast and friendly receptionists/staff/guards. We stayed at the ground floor, room 102. Pets and outside food are not allowed.
They have delicious food. We liked and enjoyed everything that we ordered especially the Peppered Tuna Nicoise. My son liked their Pancit Canton.
The free breakfast is filling and yummy. I like their restaurant overlooking the sea. They have a swimming pool and a jacuzzi.
The place is peaceful when there's really don't have much guests.
Activities can be limiting but if you love the beach and surfing and the glorious sunsets, I guess that's enough.
Courteous and nice staff. Sufficient parking. Strong wifi. Average meal per person is P200.
We will definitely go back.

The Legend Villas: Peaceful Staycation
The Legend Villas: Peaceful Staycation
We stayed here last April 16-17, 2016. We needed the much needed respite from the heat of Manila and this was the perfect choice. They have their summer promo at that time which includes de luxe room stay, buffet breakfast, snacks vouchers and access to almost all amenities except the Core Kinesis.
The Legend Villas is located at 60 Pioneer corner Madison Streets Mandaluyong City. It is accessible via EDSA (I think that's the easiest route). There are malls nearby and some restaurants.
Checking in/out was easy peasy. Didn't have any problem at all and it was really fast. The receptionists are courteous, friendly and accommodating. Their lobby design is traditional Filipino. And they have the traditional Filipino board games like sungka, dama and tic-tac-toe so you and your kids won't get bored while waiting.
Their room is huge. We have a small window (although I would have preferred a bigger one). Basic amenities are there like flat TV, ref, hair dryer, work area, kettle. I like that the controls of the lights are just within reach, just beside the bed. We had a good night sleep. Beddings and pillows are both comfy, no complaints there. We just had problem with the aircon although we didn't mention it to them, it was not that cold.
I had my massage inside the room. Although it was a little late (12am), they still accommodated me.
The toilet/washroom is very clean, somehow I think it's new. I just felt that they should have put a glass door in the shower area since the water when taking a bath spills over to the floor of the toilet seat. They provide shampoo and soap and dental kit and cotton buds and shower cap.
The pool is not that cold and it's nice especially for the kids. The package we got include snacks/drinks so we didn't get hungry while lounging in the pool. They also provide vests and balls for kids. They also have a jacuzzi but it gets too crowded from time to time and some guests stay for far too long at the expense of other hotel guests. But they have off peak which we took advantage for a little like 5 minutes before it gets crowded again.
Buffet breakfast was sufficient. I did enjoy it but my husband was looking for more variety like bacon and tapa and tocino. I loved the arroz caldo though.
We never tried the gym. Parking is ok. We had ours just in front of our villa which is cool especially when we need to check out. It was easier for us to bring our stuff to our car.
All in all, we had a great time especially my kid who enjoyed the pool far too much. Staff and crew were nice to us especially the one assigned in the pool area. We will definitely stay here again.

Sofitel Hotel: Awesome Stay
I'll start with a summary: It was an awesome stay!
Every penny you pay for this hotel is worth it.
We checked in last Jan 9 using my Accor card privileges.
Although we arrived earlier, that didn't pose any problem.
The receptionist was all smiles and very accommodating.
Our room was upgraded and we were given an early check in.
Stayed at the 11th Floor.
Room is big with the view of Manila Bay and the famous gorgeous Manila sunset.
We had the most comfortable king-sized bed and the softest linen and pillows.
I love the bathroom and the branded toiletries gave the added plus factor.
Thick and almost brand new towels and bathrobes.
Complete amenities and toiletries.
They also gave us complimentary mango juice, apple, cake and desserts.
Love the pool area but water was too cold at that time.
They have hammocks, cabanas and resting areas are spread across so you can relax.
I love the part facing Manila bay where you can stare across the horizon and do nothing but relax.
Buffet breakfast at Spiral is one of the best in the country.
Extensive and varied spread. Fiesta of the high-end kind.
Fresh juice, overflowing coffee and there's even wine at that time.
Parking is many but since there are also a lot guests, it's limited on a first come, first served basis but manageable.
Wifi is strong both inside the room and outside, even at the pool area and at the spiral restaurant.
Checking out was really a breeze.
Receptionists especially Emma and the usherettes, staff and crew are courteous, friendly and attentive.
Overall, it's worth every penny.
And I will definitely go back and even stay forever here if given the chance=)

Balay De Blas Laoag: Different But Nice Experience
Another hidden gem in Laoag is this quaint hotel in town -- Balay de Blas.
It's very easy to find. It's where the famous Saramsam Restaurant is located.
It's also near the famous Laoag/La Paz Sand Dunes.
It's just around 15 minutes from the hotel.
Very unique. Definitely we had a very different but nice experience.
Location wise, it's within the city, near everything. Just a little traffic.
The place where we stayed at is like one of the biggest houses during the Spanish time.
Although they have another new building which is modern and minimalist,
you can still choose to stay here and experience the traditional but luxurious rooms in the past.
Tastefully designed and decorated with traditional Filipino furniture and beds and furnishings.
They have this really unique bathroom and you need to stay to experience it.
The room is clean and big and airy.
We have a small veranda in our room but unfortunately the one in the room cant be opened.
Wifi is too weak inside the room (3rd floor), but they let us know that prior checking in.
We were informed that we need to go to the reception area to get strong signal.
Breakfast is not included in our room but we tried it in the Saramsam restaurant and it's ok.
Traditional Ilocano food. Tasty and sufficient for the day ahead.
Staff are nice and friendly.
Parking is sufficient and safe.
There are no elevators available so if you have babies or old folks with you, you need to ask for the lower floors.
Value for money.
Easy checking in and out.
We will definitely coming back.

Hotel Luna Annex: Best Stay
Don't confuse this. There's Hotel Luna and there's Hotel Luna Annex. Hotel Luna is located at Luna Street, the annex is located a block from it. It's located at De Los Reyes St, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
Both have the same old world charm, very nice staff, dotted with the same amazing work of art, same antique facade and reception, still within the Vigan Heritage Village area. Hotel Luna Annex is the extension of Hotel Luna being almost always full half the time.
Went here during the peak season of Dec 22-24. Stayed on Dec 22-23 and it was one of the most enchanting stays we have so far. It wasn't enough that's why we're planning on going back soon.
Place is straight from a period film. Like anytime, Jose Rizal and Juan Luna will appear and will have a chat with you. You can't help but be awed by the extreme care it took for them to preserve the place and make it more authentic. The room is very nice and tastefully designed and decorated. Good big bed and very soft pillows. Although our room did not have any windows, it does not matter at all. We had a good night sleep. Such nice touch to make all the furniture and even the bathroom look old too but very clean. I like the details of their faucets and shower head. They also have a very high-tech toilet bowl which is fascinating. Aircon is brand new and working well.
The annex has a function area where events are held. We had our breakfast in their function area. Food is Ilocano dishes. No buffet though in the annex. You choose your set meal. But the service was really nice. Very attentive staff and crew.
Wifi was good too. It was connected to their TV set so you need to open the TV to avail of the service.
Parking is just really terrible. Well, we have to understand that it's a Heritage site so there are really not enough space. But they do valet so it's eases the hassle. Funny though, when walk around the village, we saw our car parked right within the street side of a private house. But it's all good. Car is still ok and in one piece.
Easy check in and out. And very very nice receptionist both checking in and checking out.
We will definitely coming back.

Taal Vista Hotel: Short break, memorable stay
We had a short break with friends and officemates last October 16-17, 2015. Booked 6 rooms thru a discounted voucher online. Since they also require us to inform Taal Vista for the room reservations, I had to call them. I had an easy time dealing with Taal Vista and making reservations.
Checking in/out was a breeze and the receptionists were all friendly, nice, attentive and accommodating. One of their supervisors Denisse Paula was extra attentive and even told us that if we need anything, we can just let her know. I didn't even have to ask them to give us rooms within the same block, they readily gave us. Their staff and crew were very courteous. They smile and greet you when they see you in the hallways, foyers and lobby.
We were booked in the mountain view side so we are near the pool. View of the entire place was awesome. My son had a great time at the pool. I like the pool but since Tagaytay is a cold place, I hope they can look into heated pools. Heated pool is very nice for the weather in Tagaytay. Pool closes early so I suggest they extend it at least until 9PM so that those who went out for the day can still enjoy the pool at night.
I also love that they have a play room for kids. If weather is too cold or if it's rainy, kids can still enjoy their stay thru the play room.
They have a new restaurant that offers fresh food. Wasn't able to try it personally but my friends did and it's worth the try.
Brekkie was great. And food are refilled as soon as they run out. They opened a ballroom since the restaurant cannot accommodate everyone at that time which is good because they have foresight since they know that there were a lot of people billeted at that time.
Wifi is strong in the room. But poor when we go out especially in the pool. But strong again in the lobby.
Parking is enough and safe.
Sky Ranch is just 10 steps away from the Taal Vista so if you need to unwind, eat, drink and be merry, you can just walk to Sky Ranch. Children will also enjoy the place.
Casino Filipino is just infront of Taal Vista so those who want to try their luck can do so there.
This is definitely our go-to place when in Tagaytay. We will definitely coming back.
