Our Ramen Nagi Experience
As I have said, I am not an expert on Japanese ramen so I just based what I say on what my taste tastes. So finally after the much hyped launch of Ramen Nagi Manila, we tasted what some considered as the ohmygosh the best ramen on the planet.
We went at Robinsons Magnolia on a rainy Tuesday night perfect for a piping hot ramen.
As you have guessed, there are a few customers at that time but still the place is half full.
Hubby ordered the classic Butao Ramen (P390), the pork king of Ramen Nagi and I ordered the Black King (P410).
They gave us a sheet where we can customize our ramen. From the richness of taste, special sauce, garlic, pork (either shoulder or belly), vegetable to their special fire sauce, firmness of noodles. You can also add extra tamago, pork, seaweed, noodles, green onion, cabbage, kikurage for a fee of course.
Since it's our first time, we wanted to just taste the classic ramen without the garnishes.
We both liked the taste. My husband liked everything except the noodles. He likes the flat Kanzhu type so this kind of noodle is just not for him.
I like the Black King, but it has the 'umay' factor. Although I finished the noodles, I wasn't able to finish the soup. The squid ink ramen is so rich and flavourful for me. It has a strong umami flavor that I had to drink a lot of free cold tea every sip.
Overall, we had a good experience. The ambiance is I would say very Japanese. The staff are very attentive and accommodating.
I would definitely try it again. They say the Green King is also good. I might try it next time.

Ryu Ramen and Curry
Our default ramen house whenever we feel the urge to eat Japanese ramen. This place is where we get our ramen-fix. First, because it's near my office although parking there is really terrible and second, it's one of the best tasting, at least for us. We love their Tantanmen, a yummy spicy miso-based soup with ground pork, soft-boiled egg, nori (dried seaweed), garlic oil and tender chashu pork and Ryu Curry Ramen, freshly-made curry with a steaming hot bowl of noodles. We also love their Karaage. Servings are big, noodle al-dente (sorry I can't think of any word to describe a noodle that is cooked just right), soup is thick and flavourful. Their Karaage chicken is crunchy and the sauce is a perfect match to the chicken. You can opt to see the cook in action as the kitchen is enclosed in a glass panel. The service is good. The staff and cook are attentive. The place is clean as well as the bathroom if you care to do the deed. The design is minimalist. As I have said, this is our go-to place whenever we want ramen so it goes to say that we will always go back to this place.

Ramen X
Not an expert on Japanese ramen. And I don't pretend to know it all. But I have tasted quite a number of ramen from different restaurants all claiming to have authentic Japanese ramen so I would like to believe that I would know if it tasted good or not. At least for my taste. Oh well, enough of that.
We tried Ramen X at Eton Centris along EDSA- Quezon Avenue. Spacious place. High ceiling. Minimalist. First time to order at the cashier. Usually Japanese restaurants here take your order at the table. This one, you order and pay at the cashier.
We ordered Oishi Ramen (P149), soy and miso based soup with roast pork, chopped onions, fish cake, half soft-boiled egg, crunchy cabbage and chilli paste. My hubby ordered Yoshi Ramen (P189), soy-based soup with marinated pork belly, half soft-boiled egg and seaweed. Both served in enormous bowls, definitely fulfilling. Taste-wise, surprisingly good, tasty, flavourful, and rich. The noodle is good enough and plenty, cooked just right for me. The pork is tender and tasty. And on top of it all, it's super affordable for the huge portions.
We also ordered Taro Milk Tea (P60) and Blueberry fruit juice (P60), cheap and good too!
All in all, it was a good meal and we will definitely coming back =)

Mad For Pizza
Tried Mad for Pizza. Same with the concept of Project Pie. Create your own pizza (P285). I basically ordered almost the same toppings as I would at Project Pie. And Chris too. Verdict: We'll stick with Project Pie. It's not naman too bad but it was too bland for us. Perhaps the dough. I don't know. Limited choices of cheese. Some toppings on their board list are not available. And the toppings don't quite blend. But that's just for us. I will prolly go back to try their pasta and appetizers next time but not the pizza.
